Lessons from Matthew 24: Cosmic Events
Jesus went on to explain (Matthew 24:24-31) some of the cosmic events of which, again, He is in control that will take place in those days.
These are things such as the sun and the moon growing dark and no longer giving off their light or warmth. The stars and planets He set in orbit will cease to remain in their positions and they will fall from the sky.
Both of these events the Old and New Testament prophets foretold!
And at that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all nations of the earth will mourn (meaning all those who refused to believe).
Why? Because they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with great power and great glory and they will know that they were wrong!
They chose to remain on the wrong side. And God will send forth His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four corners of the earth, and from one end of heaven to the other, meaning He will miss none!
The more we know of God, the less likely we are to deny His truth and accept others’ false claims.
So what are you doing to stay connected to God and the truth of His Word?
Are you remaining diligent in studying God’s Word, allowing Him to lead and guide and mold you into the person He desires you to be? Or are you constantly resisting His Word and remaining unfaithful to His desires for your life?
We must learn what He says and then we must do as He instructs us! We must live out our greater hope and not falter on this world’s false promises or hopes!
God promises us that though heaven and earth may pass away, His words will never pass away. The truth of God’s Word and His promises will stand the test of time!
What about you? Will you, with God’s help, stand for His truth, though everything around you crumbles and falls? Will you stand for Jesus?
He has, and is, and will stand for you! That’s a promise you can bank on.
