Genesis

Let’s look at Genesis 1.

Over and over again in Genesis 1 we read the phrase, “And God said,” followed by an action. In Genesis 1:3 God said, “Let there be light,” and His Word was so powerful that there was light. God spoke and then it happened.

Today we still have God’s Word, His written Word. Which we are told in Hebrews 4:12-13:

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

And so we see that when Jesus spoke, not only did what He say come into existence, He gave it life.

Until Jesus spoke everything into existence, nothing was that is. The world was completely and totally dark and void of life, UNTIL the Word (Jesus) spoke and then there was life.

Genesis 2:7 tells us that the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being. God has given life to every single person who has ever lived, is living, or is yet to live. And in God’s original design, we were meant to have life in His holy and perfect presence forever.

But when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden by choosing to disobey God and His Word, the world became marred by sin and we have been suffering its effects ever since.

The good news is that He didn’t leave us that way!

John says the Word, Jesus, came to earth to live that we might have life through Him. That was the purpose and still is the purpose for His suffering death on the cross. His blood was shed for the remission of our sins that all who believe might be made holy in His sight.

Jesus’s life shines light in this dark world of sin and suffering. His light offers people hope if they will heed His words and believe and trust Him.

Jesus Christ is the Eternal Word of God, who gives life and light to every living thing, including you and me.

Since we will not always be here on earth and because God is eternal, He can give us eternal life.

My question then is: Have you received eternal life through Jesus Christ?

You cannot separate God the Father from God the Son. The two are one and cannot be separated no matter what the world may tell you.

If you are not sure if you have received the person of Jesus Christ into your life or you are not sure how to, please talk to someone you trust who can give you insight. Let God reveal Himself to you, and invite Him into your life so that you can be assured not only of your salvation but also of your eternal destiny.

For those of you who already know this and have experienced it, how does it change the way you live at home, in your work place, etc.?

Knowing and experiencing God in our lives should indeed change the way we live each day!

Yet, John tells us in John 1:5 that though the light shines in the darkness, the darkness has not understood it.

Which leads me into the next division, where we will learn that people who remain in the darkness do so not because they have not heard the truth, because they have!

God has sent to all mankind a witness!
